Who are The Volts?

volts.gif

Who exactly are this band of schoolboys who worship and have a page dedicated to a drinking, catch phrasin' and all round funny bastard, Tobes?

In a musical era dominated by self-important artistes and teary hearts-on-their-sleeves troubadours, The Volts dedicate their musical lives for the sake of having a laugh and playing music at the same time. The Volts have gone through a few members over the past year or two, but at this current moment in time The Volts are Matt "Burkey" Burke on bass, John "CJ" Borman on guitar, Jake "Peebs" Murphy on drums and Tim "P-Man" Proust up front providing The Volts with their backbone and energy.

Why in this day and age of sellout, generic and just all round shit bands, would four blokes want start a band?

Stupid question...Whoever asked it had no idea. The Volts believe that Rock n Roll should be just that....Rock N fuckin' Roll. No MTV,no guest apperances on Burkes Backyard, no cameo movie appearances...Just hard, mean, sweaty Rock n Roll that is played throughout the endless pubs and bars of this great sunburnt country. They got sick of seeing all these wailing, depressed blokes crying on stage, and figured that the Rockers out there must be screaming out for something new to see and listen to.

So I guess being teenagers your songs are all about depression and suicide?

Songs about depression and suicide?..... GET FUCKED!! Rock N Roll is about having a good time and playing some decent music at the same time. That is what The Volts are about. They may not be the most talented quartet of young men, but their attitude is in the right place. If it's fun, it'll be done. If it's humorous, it'll be done even quicker. The Volts music and their gigs revolve around the idea that music is meant to be enjoyed. You cannot enjoy music while you are slitting your wrists or crying. The only way to truly enjoy this ancient art is to be jumping around like some kinda crazed madman, with a grin on your face, belting out every line of every lyric with a beer in your hand.

If they don't like bands that sing about feelings then what DO they like?

The Volts highly regard the pub-rock era of Australian music as the greatest years in musical history. A time where bands like AC/DC,The Angels & Rose Tattoo pitched up tents in the back of your local and played to whoever showed up. If the audience survived the atmosphere that was rough Aussie pubs in the 70's, they'd come back for more the next night, and bring their friends for protection.

Well if they're so fuckin good, why are they here?

The Volts goal is to bring this ideology about music and the music itself back to the pubs and homes of Australia. Where tradies, westies and blokes of all races, cultures and places can raise their glasses as one and shout "FUCK YEAH!"
