THE VOLTS ROCK THE KASBAH! (12/9/04)
With almost no preperation, no rehersal with the new lineup The Volts rocked
all those who came to a half an hour show overloading with cream. Doubt was cast before the performance whether The Volts
would be able to play well without rehersing with new drummer Jake. Jake wasn't entirely fimilar with two of The Volts original
songs ("Way I Am" & "Get Go") but his drumming talent allowed him to play spontaneously alongside
Johnno,Burkey and Tim perfectly. No one would of known about the lack of rehersal! Jake had never played drums for The
Volts before but the decent crowd that showed up wouldn't of known. He didn't miss a beat.
P-Man overcame a niggling cold to blow the balls off those who came with his onstage intensity. As JB says
" I may not be the best singer, but I make up for it with my intensity". His on stage persona is the very backbone of The
Volts. He was a crowd favourite with many cheers and jeers of "Yeah Prousty!".
New member Burkey didn't look out of place onstage. He learnt thirteen songs in two days and managed to
pull it all off without any problems. His playing was complemented by some new bass playing moves that will certaintly see
the light of day again in the not too distant future.
Johnno was solid on the G. Leaving vital equipment at home gave the band a pre-gig scare, but he managed
to return in time for a quick sound check before the show started. The Marshall Stack was given its first public performance
and it didn't disappoint. The crunchy, ball breaking sounds were heard throughout St Edwards. The first Johnno fan was
discovered and screams of "yeah Johnno!" were heard numerous times throughout the gig.
The Volts played a 10 song gig which rocked hard tasty abs waterboard style. Especially considering they
had pretty much no practice time and hadn't played together in some months.
